How do foggers work?
A total-release aerosol can disperses its contents as a mist. The area or room volume it can treat depends on the particular product and its label, not a universal can-size formula. Furniture, enclosed spaces and surface conditions affect coverage; a visible mist is not proof that every surface has received an effective treatment.
Where can they be used?
Use a product only in the settings and on the surfaces specified on its label. Food premises, schools and healthcare facilities have different cleaning and treatment requirements. Do not assume a domestic aerosol product is appropriate for an operating room, food-contact surface or occupied classroom.
Are they safe to use?
No fogger should be described as harmless in every environment. Check the label for preparation, protective measures, occupancy restrictions, ventilation and re-entry conditions. Never infer that a surface disinfectant is suitable for drinking water, people or animals. Ask for advice if the intended use is unclear.
What do they protect against?
The organisms a disinfectant is effective against must be supported by that product’s label and the stated application conditions. Claims for one product cannot be transferred to another. Disinfection is a treatment step, not continuous protection against later contamination.
