Ants

On their foraging expeditions ants repeatedly enter human habitations, passing through unhygienic areas on the way. They may also build extensive nests and hollow-out walls or floors.

enviro-safe-bee

BEES & WASPS

These include: Yellowjackets, Bumblebees, Carpenter bees, Honey-bees, hornets, and wasps. They deliver painful, dangerous stings, especially if allergic. Carpenter bees and wood wasps bore into wood, potentially causing structural damage.

BLOOD FEEDERS

Blood feeding pests like bed-bugs are of great concern, because of their bites, causing itching and swelling, but more importantly because they can be vectors (carriers) of pathogenic (disease) organisms, that seriously injure or kill humans and domestic animals. There is a greater possibility of disease transmission, e.g., the malarial parasite, yellow fever virus, etc.

COCKROACHES

Cockroaches love dark, warm, and moist places where we often find germs. Cockroach control is essential for our quality of life. Begin by destroying all potential food sources. Then seal off all potential entry points and wait a couple of days. If your problem doesn't subside, call us.  We can come in and completely treat your home or business.

CRICKETS

Crickets mate in the spring. The eggs hatch in the fall and they usually hatch in groups of 2,000. Crickets are known for their chirp. They tend to be nocturnal and are often confused with grasshoppers, which are related because they have a similar body structure including jumping hind legs.

FLIES

The most common pest of homes, shops, factories, food establishments and rubbish areas. The adults are attracted to, and breed in, decaying animals, animal waste excrement and vegetable waste. This is a major health risk. Flies are carriers of a large number of disease organisms, including Salmonella food poisoning and infantile diarrhoea.

GRASSHOPPERS

Grasshoppers are noisy, herbivorous insects. To distinguish them from bush crickets or katydids, they are sometimes referred to as short-horned grasshoppers. Species that change colour and behaviour at high population densities are called locusts.

enviro-safe-mice

MICE

Mice are carriers of pathogenic (harmful) organisms such as Salmonella bacteria which when deposited on food preparation surfaces or on food itself can cause food poisoning. As well as damaging consumable and non-consumable goods. They can also cause fires or flooding by gnawing through wiring, cables and pipes.

enviro-safe-spider

SPIDERS

Most spiders can inject venom and can pose health problems to humans. Tall grass right up against the house and overhanging trees harbour insects and attract spiders. Open water on the property provides a breeding source for many insects, including mosquitoes and midges, which attracts spiders.

rats-enviro-safe

RATS

Black rats are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, typically near human habituation. They are subject to persistent pest control due to the damage they cause and the numerous diseases they spread, including bubonic plague, typhus and rabies.

STORED PRODUCT INSECTS- MOTHS, WEEVILS & BEETLES

These insects are responsible for infesting and damaging most stored products including wheat, flour, fruits, nuts, oil seeds, cocoa beans, textiles, leather, drugs, poisons, fish and dried meats. Therefore, the correct identification of the pest species is very important.

termitates-enviro-safe

WOOD DESTROYING INSECTS- BEETLES & TERMITES

They infest timber wood and exposed wood such as window/ door frames, trim, eaves, attics, etc. They can do serious damage to building structures, stored foods, fabrics and agriculture. They lay their eggs inside previous emergence holes in finished wood and immediately tunnel into the wood leaving behind gritty dust.

Integrated Pest Management needs to be carried out in a professional manner and on a continued basis throughout the year if maximum infestation control and prevention is to be effective. Frequent observation that allows for early detection of potential problems will permit effective and economical control.

Signs of a cockroach infestation and how to get rid of it effectively:

Act fast on any signs of a cockroach infestation at your premises to prevent and stop a bigger cockroach infestation problem as well as to curb the impact these insects have on your health. Don’t leave food, paper, plastics and other material lying around as these will attract cockroaches as they eat all of these. Cockroaches come out at night, so look for signs of cockroaches during the day. Cockroaches are mostly spotted in basements, drains, laundry areas, bathrooms and kitchens. Things to look out for; small patches of dusty-black spots as these are cockroach droppings, brown smear-marks produced by cockroaches, unusual damage to goods as well as unusual odours are all signs of cockroaches.

Roach control Do's :

  • Store food in bug-proof containers
  • Empty trash containers frequently
  • Keep the dishwasher closed or empty
  • Pick up food when your pet is done eating
  • Store recyclable cans and bottles in bug-proof containers
  • Roaches are attracted to damp, moist areas, so repair any water leaks or conditions favourable to roach infestations.
  • Reduce clutter. Don't give roaches an easy place to hide.
  • Vacuum thoroughly. A crumb is a feast to an insect.
  • Clean up spills. By removing alternative food sources, pests are more likely to feed exclusively on the baits placed by the pest control operator.

Signs of a spider infestation and how to get rid of it effectively:

Open water on the property provides a breeding source for many insects, including mosquitoes and midges, which in turn attracts spiders. Homes built right near a lake are prime candidates for spider infestations. Houses next to open fields are also common sites of spider infestations. They naturally filter indoors through cracks and crevices around windows, doors, attics, and crawl spaces. Eliminate insect breeding areas, reduce moisture, repair leaking pipes, and free-standing moisture on your property.
